BJP Leader warns Rahul Gandhi of legal action over 'Sikh' remark

BJP spokesperson RP Singh has accused Rahul Gandhi of misrepresenting the events of the 1984 Delhi riots. Singh claimed that around 3,000 Sikhs were killed during the riots, which occurred under Congress party rule. He also mentioned that Sikhs were subjected to violence, including having their turbans removed and their hair cut. Singh challenged Gandhi to repeat his statements about Sikhs in India, warning that he would file a lawsuit against him if he did.

Congress criticized

Rahul Gandhi, who is currently in the US, said that his fight is about ensuring Sikhs can freely wear turbans and practice their religion in India. He argued that the issue is not just political but fundamental to religious freedom.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized Gandhi for attacking India’s image abroad. He pointed out that former Opposition Leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee never criticized the Indian government while overseas. Chouhan accused Gandhi of maligning the country and suggested that his anti-BJP sentiments are damaging his perception of India.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari added that the Congress party is fearful of having their lies exposed. He claimed that Congress leaders are protected by the party even when accused of serious crimes, and that the party’s fear is a sign of its weakening position.
